One advice before we get started, if you are planning on visiting during high season, between Christmas and February or for Spring Break, we recommend you reserve your accommodation in advance. 3 Kaban 44

This small but beautiful hostel is a bit outside form Playa del Carmen’s center, but a great choice if you are looking to save money. A night at a dorm starts at prices as low as $5 USD, what makes the 15-minute walk to the city’s center worth. The have private rooms, mixed or separate dorms, free Wi-fi in all areas, public parking space, a pool, table tennis, and you can rent bikes.

4 Excel Sense Boutique Hostel

It is the only boutique hostel in Playa del Carmen and it really is a cute place to stay at in the quiet Playacar neighborhood. They have a quiet common area on the rooftop with a small pool to relax in and free wifi. Breakfast is not included, but some of the rooms feature a kitchenette and they have a laundry service.

This hostel at a prime location right on the 5th Avenue is all about partying. There is loud music playing until late and also you are in the middle of the action, with everything very close. 6 Selina

Selina is one of the most beautifully designed hostels in Playa del Carmen with single rooms as well as dorms. Lots of turquoise and white as well as a patio with a pool and palm trees make for the Caribbean feeling.  Their bar is very popular among locals too, so it’s a great place too meet not only travelers! Another feature that makes Selina unique, is that it offers a coworking space and yoga lessons.
